Town of Mount Royal Volunteer Centre
Presentation of the Centre
Mission
The Centre's mission is to provide medical transportation, accompaniment, friendly visits, and administrative support to seniors aged 60 and over, as well as to individuals experiencing temporary or permanent loss of autonomy, residing in Mount Royal.
Values
The Volunteer Centre is founded on the core values of compassion and empathy, particularly during medical transportation. Its objectives are to:
- Improve the quality of life of its clients;
- Promote independence;
- Encourage respect for differences, equality, mutual support, and solidarity.
Approach and impact
The Centre's clients primarily need to be able to attend all their medical appointments while benefiting from a caring, warm, and reassuring human presence. A listening ear, a smile, or a kind word helps break down isolation, strengthens the sense of belonging, and restores confidence in life.
The administrative staff coordinates all of the Centre's activities in close collaboration with volunteers, social workers, and hospitals to help clients remain safely at home for as long as possible.
The Centre also acts as a dynamic network for exchange, fostering intergenerational connections, community collaboration, mutual support, and social partnerships within the community.
HELPING ONE ANOTHER STARTS HERE
Behind many closed doors, a senior is waiting. Not necessarily for something, often, just for someone.
Isolation is silent, but its effects run deep. A day without conversation. A week without a visit. Memories with no one left to share them with.
You can change that.
By becoming a volunteer, you bring far more than company, you remind someone that they matter, that they belong, that they are still a cherished part of our community.
By making a donation, you help us reach even more seniors left behind, building connections where there were none.
Isolation is fought together.
And it starts right here, with you.
